Assault Horizon trailer ""BRINGS THE ROCK""

As we explained in our recent preview, the latest Ace Combat is a modern-era departure from the series' fictional, melodramatic roots. Where there was once a made-up army fighting in a made-up country, there's now a battle taking place over a besieged African city. Real-world locations, helicopters and close-quarters combat highlight the game's many new points, but this trailer emphasizes the gritty, darker tone of Assault Horizon, which roughly translates to "make it look like Modern Warfare" and soak that sucker in guitars!

I'm an absurdly huge fan of Ace Combat, but acknowledge the series is in need of a fresh take. While this approach does seem overly influenced by Call of Duty, and tries distressingly hard to make Ace Combat seem rough and tough, it IS certainly more energetic and exciting than trailers for prior Ace Combat games.

Above: But it's no Puddle of Mudd, as heard in Ace Combat 5
For a good sense of where the franchise has come from, check this retrospective from 2007, which posted just before the last console Ace Combat launched.

Apple drops 1st-Gen iPad prices by Php4,000

As the Philippine Apple Store comes back online to accommodate news of the iPad 2, they’ve also slashed the retail prices of the old iPads by Php4,000 (across the board).
Here’s the screen shot of the new prices of the 1st-gen iPads.

The new prices are exactly Php4,000 cheaper. This will allow some price difference with the introduction of the iPad 2. The
Apple is hoping people will keep on buying the old iPads despite the new announcements. Not sure though if the Php4,000 difference will convince buyers.

Google Nexus S arriving this month

Looks like Samsung is bringing in their co-branded Google Nexus S to the Philippines this quarter, according to a reliable source that sent us a tip. The indicative price — about Php28,500. Not bad, eh?
Samsung’s target delivery date is between March and April of 2011 but I’m hoping it will be as early as this month.

Google Nexus S
4.0″ Super AMOLED @ 480×800 pixels
1GHz Cortex A8 (Hummingbird) processor
16GB iNAND flash memory
512MB RAM
HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps)
WiFi 802.11 n/b/g
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Near Field Communication (NFC)
Assisted GPS (A-GPS)
microUSB 2.0
5 megapixels camera
720 x 480 video resolution

The Google Nexus S has been selling in the grey market for some time now and units have been spotted in GreenHills as early as January with a street price of Php35,000. The Php28,500 SRP sure makes it a good deal.

The Giving Tree Concept

giving-tree-concept
Here is another unique concept design called “Giving Tree”. Designed by Kim Joonmin and Jeong-a Choi, the concept Giving Tree allows you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. The Giving Tree charger is a plastic tree and offers multiple connectors that can be attached to gadgets. Unfortunately, it is only a concept at this time, don’t know when it available.
